Winter Hibernation

January 10, 2024

Winter has arrived in the vineyard around Algaida. Scattered grapes, which were left to the birds and wild nature of Mallorca, are now eaten. The cool days of January favor the winter rest of our vines. After the holidays, we started the important pruning, which significantly shapes the character of our future wines. Careful pruning means more or less yield, influences the ripeness and concentration of the grapes and ensures that the vine remains in perfect balance.

With respect and understanding for nature, we prune the vines: we avoid large wounds that could cause illness. Along the winding trunks, our winegrowing experts carefully select the shoots for the next harvest.

The cut tendrils return to the soil as nutrients, support its fertility and provide habitat for small organisms. This is how Vinya Tribaneli creates wines that reflect the balance of people and nature.
