Soil & wind
Mioceno medio - Triassic
Algaida combines the geological treasures of two epochs — the Mioceno medio and the Triassic — to create a unique terroir. The soils of Mioceno medio, characterized by marine sediments, offer a range of nutrients and a structure that allows excellent drainage, resulting in concentrated and expressive grapes. The iron oxide-rich Triassic soils, famous for their characteristic red color, can give the grapes an additional mineral complexity.

This combination of mineral-rich texture and good water permeability promotes vine health and the depth of the wine profile. Our wines reflect this rich geological heritage, which may contribute to unparalleled quality and outstanding character that captures the essence of Algaida's landscape.
The Wind Embat
This characteristic sea breeze on Mallorca plays an important role in the region's winegrowing. The breeze, which blows especially at noon, helps to refresh the vines, an essential condition for maintaining grape quality during the warm summer months. The moisture carried along helps to create a balanced microclimate in the vineyard, which reduces the risk of pests and diseases.

In addition, the salinity of the wind adds a unique mineral note to the grapes, which has a positive effect on the complexity and aroma of the wines. The Embat thus makes a significant contribution to the production of high-quality wines by creating an ideal growing environment and giving the wines an unmistakable terroir-specific characteristic.
