Our vineyard went through a period of careful care and attention. In recognition of the importance of resilience and adaptability, a partial replanting of the vines was carried out. This was not just a maintenance move, but a testament to our commitment to excellence by ensuring that only the strongest and most suitable vines thrive in our terroir.
Training the vines using the cordon method, a sophisticated technique that plays a crucial role in managing our vineyard, is central to our vineyard's cultivation practices. This method involves training the vine to grow along a wire, which allows controlled growth and easier management of foliage. The benefits of the cordon system are many; it facilitates better sunlight and air circulation around grapes, resulting in healthier vines and improved grape quality. In addition, this technique supports the efficient use of space and resources, improving both the yield and overall health of the vineyard.
After a promising spring and careful care, our dedication literally bore fruit, with the first harvest of the vineyard in August and September — a remarkable achievement within just two years of planting. This initial yield was not only a milestone but also a harbinger of the potential that lies in our vines and symbolizes the fruits of our work and the beginning of our heritage.
At the end of the year, the moment of truth came when the harvest was tasted straight from the tanks, an experience shared with a group of 50 winemakers. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, a reflection of the quality and promise that our young vineyard keeps, and a huge compliment to Henri and his team for producing such high-quality wines. This first tasting was not just an evaluation of our efforts, but a celebration of what is yet to come and points to a future rich in the promise of exceptional vintages.
